I Launched My First Notion Templates on Gumroad (2 Downloads, $0 Revenue, and Still Hyped)
Okay, here’s what went down.
I finally stopped overthinking and actually launched something. Two Notion templates. Slapped ’em on Gumroad. Set the price to “Pay what you want” because I was curious (and terrified).
I recorded the setup process, made the product pages semi-presentable, and then hit publish.
And… drumroll please…
Two people downloaded them.
They paid me $0.
I am weirdly proud.
This is my first digital product launch. It’s also my first public income report from selling on Gumroad. If you’re thinking about launching a side hustle or selling Notion templates yourself, here’s everything I learned.
What I Launched on Gumroad
Task Management OS – The Notion Template for Actually Getting Things Done
This Notion template is a productivity system for ADHD brains and chaos schedulers. Priority-based tasks, quick capture, and a “done is better than perfect” design.
Freelancer OS – Your All-In-One Notion HQ
Designed for freelancers and side hustlers juggling projects, clients, and invoicing. It’s a clean workspace that turns Notion into a business cockpit.
I launched both on Gumroad with “Pay What You Want” pricing because:
- I wanted to test product-market fit
- I wasn’t ready to hard-sell anything
- I wanted to start small and learn

The Numbers (First 2 Weeks on Gumroad)
Launched: May 13
Writing this: June 1
- Ego bruises → 0 (shockingly)
- Task Management OS → 2 downloads
- Freelancer OS → 0 downloads
- Revenue → $0
- Emails collected → 2
This was my very first try selling Notion templates online—and while it didn’t make me rich, it gave me insight into what works (and what doesn’t).
What I Learned from Selling Digital Products on Gumroad
1. Making the product is easy. Launching it is the challenge.
I could’ve spent weeks tweaking these templates. But I needed real feedback. Selling on Gumroad gave me that, fast.
2. Pay-what-you-want = feedback, not income
It’s a great way to see if people are even interested—but don’t expect to make money unless your value is crystal clear.
3. Gumroad doesn’t bring the traffic—you do
If you want to sell Notion templates on Gumroad, understand this: it’s a hosting platform, not a marketing engine. You need to build your own momentum.
4. Your first product won’t be perfect (and that’s fine)
This is a long game. Every digital product launch gets you closer to the one that hits.
If You’re Thinking About Starting a Side Hustle or Selling on Gumroad
Start small. Launch something simple. Templates, checklists, swipe files—anything useful.
Selling your first product is less about income and more about data. You learn:
- What people click on
- What they download
- What they ignore
- What you wish you had said differently
This is my first real attempt at selling digital products as a side hustle, and it’s already helping me find my footing.

What’s Next in My Gumroad Journey
- Reprice Task Management OS to $5 and see if sales improve
- Rewrite Freelancer OS to focus on outcomes, not just features
- Start promoting with short-form videos, tweet threads, and blog content
- Bundle them into a small “starter kit” for side hustlers using Notion
Next micro-goal: Make $5 from digital products by mid-June. Let’s see what happens.
TL;DR – My First Digital Product & Gumroad Launch Report
- Building and documenting the whole journey
- Launched 2 Notion templates as my first digital products
- Selling on Gumroad with $0+ pricing model (Pay What You Want)
- Got 2 downloads, $0 revenue in 3 weeks
- Learned more from this side hustle experiment than from months of planning
